With the second wave, Covid measures are more strict again. Resilience is the word we need to put into practice even more. On the daily basis we are confronted with this and one day we can cope with it better than the other. Knowing we all experience a breakdown at some point, I really hope you’re doing well under circumstances. What I’ve learned is that it’s really important to talk to someone about your struggles. Share your pain, feel the pain, and slowly heal again. You are not alone, even if it might feel like that sometimes.
Two months ago when I posted the first Catch up with Lily. There were no articles online for the last couple of weeks because it was such a stressful time moving my website to another host. At some point, I thought I lost 6 years of work. Luckily we are live again and I am excited to share everything with you here in my little Hashtag by Lily world.
Few important things happened in the meantime and also a few fun things that I want to share with you in this post. Catch up with you soon again, before the holidays hit ;)
1 OMROEP ZWART
A few months ago, I did a little shoot, together with many ambassadors to support Omroep Zwart. Omroep Zwart will be a Dutch broadcaster focused on diversity and inclusivity that The Netherlands is known for. It’s almost crazy that something like this doesn’t exist yet. I am happy they have reached the 50.000 members to be able to realize their vision. I can’t wait to see what they will do in 2021!
I did a little interview for AT5 about Asian discrimination in Amsterdam. It was on tv, but you can also watch the item back on Youtube.
I think it’s so important to educate ignorant people and to give the Dutch Asian community a voice. As you can imagine, most of us are quite fed up with the daily vocal and sometimes physical harassment.
Thank you AT5 for spreading this message with this interview.
3 THE INVISIBLE ONES
Filmmaker and writer Chee-Han Kartosen-Wong made a powerful video essay to create more awareness about anti-Asian racism and stereotyping of Dutch Asians.
With the video “Ik zie wat jij niet ziet” she wants to convey this message with illustrations, digital art, selfies, animation, and a spoken word poem by Kevin Groen. I have a small part in this video. Go check it out!!
4 OPI NAIL APPOINTMENT
I was invited by OPI to get a gellak treatment at City Spa Amsterdam. I selected this purple color from their latest collection “Muse of Milan”.
I have tried many nail salons before, and I must say this one was really nice and the gellak stayed pretty for 4-5 weeks.

5 CUSTOM JACKET w/ PEPE JEANS
I got to pick a denim jacket at Pepe Jeans to customise it with their instore service in Amsterdam. I really love this cropped design from the Dua Lipa collection.
I was able to customize it with print and paint, the options were endless. The Pepe Jeans team in the Kalverstraat are the best and they will guide you through this process if you want to customise your denim item there.
Sergio did a phenomenal job bringing my vision to life. I really love my Chinese name with the lilac color and the white parts. I can’t wait to wear this jacket after this winter!

6 BIRTHDAY AT KIMPTON DE WITT & CELIA
I normally escape my birthday and go out of town. With Covid around, I didn’t expect to do anything this year with my birthday, until I got the invite from Hotel Kimpton de Witt and restaurant Celia to have a staycation there.
I couldn’t ask for a better birthday this year, also because I got to bring Mochi with me :D His first hotel sleepover. Check out the full hotel report of our stay, here.
7 NIVEA REMOTE WORKING SPACE
Brands are getting super creative organising brand activations, despite the very strict Covid-restrictions these days. NIVEA branded this caravan into an office to celebrate the launch of their new line “NATURALLY GOOD” in the middle of nature.
Together with my business partner Chi Chi and her puppy Nugget we spent a productive day with a healthy lunch in the NIVEA office.
8 MOCHI’S AVENTURES
Since I can’t miss my baby Mochi. I bought him this backpack so I can bring him everywhere! This cat has stayed at a hotel already, went to the beach and now we do daily walks and he comes to the office with me.
I am very much into reels lately, so much that my feed is full of it these days. I love how creative I can be again playing with fashion, transitions, and more. I love the ones I recreate my mom’s outfit from 20 years ago. Have you seen these on my Insta?!
