Back in town again after 2 weeks in Indonesia that flew by in a second yet it feels like I have been travelling there for over a month. This trip has exceeded every expectation and it might count as my favorite one so far! I have witnessed one breath taking moment after the other with a packed itinerary. I tried to take my moments to realize that it was really happening with so many amazingness on a daily basis to process. It will be very hard to get over the ‘homesick’ this time. It sure wasn’t the same without the 45 influencers on this trip and the outstanding organization that I miss the most.
In the coming 3 weeks I will share this unforgettable 2 week adventure with you. I have been to Bali 2 times before, but Indonesia has soo sooo soooo much more to offer that I didn’t realize. From what I have heard, there is still much more to explore (I mean Indonesia has over 17000 islands) so I hope to continue this journey one day.
With these articles I hope to inspire you to put Indonesia on your bucket list, because it is absolutely worth your while. Are you ready for the ride?
After a long flight via Kuala Lumper we arrived at Jakarta where we would only stay for 1 night at Swiss-bel Hotel Airport. We immediately went to the welcome dinner where I met the team from the Ministry of Tourism (who made this trip possible), the organization team and most of the influencers.
I call them influencers because it was a rich group of diversity. There were photographers, Instagrammers, travel bloggers etc. Which is really interesting, because you get to see the same trip from so many different perspectives. I will put a list in the next articles with all these influencers so you can check out their work as well!
• Tangkuban Perahu crater
• Dusun Bambu
• Hotel Mercure (2 days)
• Restaurant the Peak
Tangkuban Perahu crater
Wake up call at 6 am. I forgot that they eat 3 warm meals in Indonesia. The breakfast at the hotel offers a broad range of choices.
After this we headed to Bandung with the bus, which was a 3 hour trip to krater Tangkuban Perahu.
We had an hour to spend here, which is enough for the photos. We walked around a bit, having a fresh coconut water and tried a local snack that I found super yummy!!
Tip: don’t go on a Sunday if you have a choice, it is quite crowded with many local tourists visiting as well. This applies to all tourist attractions here.
Time for lunch. We drove to Dusun Bambu (1 hour drive), a recreation park to relax with a lot of fun things to do. We had our private deck with a nice table setting. On the deck we could enjoy the view of a lake surrounded by cute cottages to stay in that you can access with a boat. I wish we could have stayed here for a night.
The Peak restaurant
Check in time at hotel Mercure (1 hour ride), before heading to dinner at the Peak restaurant (another 1 hour ride). At arrival they welcomed us with traditional sweets and a ginger drink. This restaurant has a nice view over Bandung. Perfect for romantic dates. With live music on the background we enjoyed our 4 course dinner. Perfect end of our first day.
• Kawah Putih crater
• Sindang Reret Ciwidey lunch
• Angklung show (in Saung Mang Udjo)
• Kampung Daun Restaurant
We stayed 2 nights at Mercure Hotel. Unfortunately we didn’t have time for a swim here in the pool. Breakfast was amazing again with so many choices.
Wake up call at 6am again! Oops, forgot to save my Snapchats of this day for the video, but the photos will do :)
After breakfast we headed to Kawah Putih crater (2 hour drive). Entering the crater you will be rewarded with a mesmerizing turquoise lake. The sand and rocks surrounding the lake are dominated by whitish colors through interaction with the acidic lake waters.
With only 1 hour to spend here, I took this opportunity to shoot my first outfit, click here.
Tip: Bring an extra scarf or jacket with you; it’s chillier up here. Plus, for the smell you can bring a mask to put on.
Sindang Reret Cisidey Restaurant
Lunch on the traditional way did taste better; on the floor with our bare hands.
I had no idea what the angklung show was about beforehand, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the kids playing this traditional instrument from West Java so professionally and the dance performances were pretty awesome. The audience got the chance to play it as well, and I must say we sounded amazing together.
Somehow the music hit me unexpectedly, because it reminded me of someone I lost. Music always has such a deep impact on my emotions. I was in tears for a few minutes, nevertheless I enjoyed every minute of this show! We even ended up on stage dancing with the cute kids.
Kampung Daun Restaurant
After the show we went to Kampung Daun restaurant for dinner. We were quite tired of the jetlag, travelling and all the impressions all day, yet this was another great hotspot to add to that list. It’s a very big “rain forrest” like space with private cottages where you can have your dinner. Such a romantic set up for your date nights. I had a fun night here, getting to know the other influencers over a delicious Indonesian dinner on the second day.
This trip was in collaboration with The Ministry of Tourism Indonesia
