— Press trip —
A few weeks ago I flew to Nice to spend time with the Otentic perfumes team to get to know the brand. I already had an incredible in-store experience in Amsterdam (see here), therefore it was extra special to meet the founders and discover the history of Otentic and perfumes in general. It was an honor to meet the legendary perfumer Jean-Denise Saisse. His passion for his job was super inspiring to see.
With this photo diary I give you a taste of my trip and hopefully inspire you a little bit with this art form that has inspired me so much. I can tell you this: I learned so much about the art of scents in the heart of Perfumes (Grasse) that a bottle perfume will never be the same again.
— Perfume production house —
Field trip to the perfume production house Art&Perfume. First of all, what a breath taking location to be situated. I was mesmerized by the hundreds of small bottles of scents and the technology of the machines that makes perfume possible. We couldn’t make pictures of the process, because that’s top secret. It was such an unique experience to witness.
Afterwards we took a walk in their Japanese garden, filled with primary sources of scents, like flowers and fruits. The whole walk smelled so nice.
— Hotel Ermitage Du Riou —
A lovely 4 star hotel with a sea view. It’s just a 1 minute walk from the beach.
Address: 26 Avenue Henry Clews, 06210 Mandelieu-la-Napoule
— La Brocherie restaurant —
We had a sea food dinner right across from the hotel at La Brocherie restaurant. The food here was excellent and the scenery is very romantic!!
address: Port de Mandelieu, 11 Avenue Henry Clews, 06210 Mandelieu-la-Napoule
— Grasse —
My first time in the French Riviera and I LOVE IT! This one day trip got me longing for more!
— Otentic roots —
And then we went back to the roots, the purpose of this trip. Generations of family Saisse have lived in this home that we visited. Jean-Denise Saisse is a legendary perfumer (8th of his generation) was a great host and from his perfect garden outlooking the peaceful ocean we sat down to REALLY get to know Otentic.
His family started the business in 1785. Perfume Anno ‘1785’ is therefore the mother of all the Otentic perfumes. There are in total 73 Otentic perfumes that can be categorized in 8 moods: Fyori, Lemonia, Elegantia, Sedux, Sensuali, Arborath, Grasslands and Aquamondo.
Perfume is so powerful and personal, it’s a whole task to find the one that represents YOU. In their store, you have the opportunity to explore this little scent adventure in a very unique way (check it out here).
— Théoule-sur-Mer —
Lunch break at the beach before our flight back to Amsterdam. I keep snapping pictures from this gorgeous place.
Special thanks to Otentic for this amazing perfume experience!
