When we booked our vacay, we just wanted a relaxing few days off to somewhere with a lot of sun and a nice beach. And indeed it was the most beautiful beach I have ever seen, but Mexico was so much more than just that. I was pleasantly surprised with the diversity that Mexico (Playa del Carmen) has to offer. From mysterious Maya ruins, astonishing natural cenotes to super friendly Mexicans and everything in between. Yes, after spending 9 days there, I can come to the conclusion that Mexico made it into my top 5 favorite destinations so far!
I have covered all our adventures in the last posts. So here is a little recap. Maybe it will come in handy when you are going to Mexico some day.
- Staying in paradise
Took it easy on the first day. Staying at the resort (Hotel Riu) and beach club to recover from our jet lag.
- Adventures in Mexico
We discovered the convenient ‘Collectivo’ van. We took this van to Tulum ruins. Afterwards we ate at a delicious low-key local restaurant.
- Caribbean paradise
We went to Akumal. Just swimming with some sea turtles. Nothing special ;)
Booked a day to Xel-ha, a natural aquatic park and I have met another fashion blogger.
- Relaxin’ in Mexico
A chill day at the pool and some shopping around town (5th avenida).
- The ‘must been & seen’
We visited a beautiful small cenote (‘Azul’). Thereafter we went back to my favorite beach, Akumal.
- Final day in paradise
Double date with blogger Lauren to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Playa Paraiso.
That’s it from Mexico! I hope you liked reading my travel posts. Still blogging about Mexico after I got back last week, was like extending my vacay a little bit longer. The video and photos (looking at it over and over and over again) takes me back to that dreamy place that I couldn’t just say goodbye to yet. I am sure it isn’t a goodbye; I rather hope it is a see you later, alligator ;)
